Nobody wants to get infected with the flu sickness. But we often cannot avoid them. On average we were infected once a year and it takes 1 week to fully recover. Flu is categorized as infectious diseases caused by viruses. It easily transmitted through air and physical contact.

The recent flu pandemic by COVID 19 was not expected. The outbreak is uncontrolled. Thus, the whole world is forced to stay at home for months with millions of death. Also The economic collapse and millions of people become jobless.

As a result, COVID 19 pandemic devastated the economy and social well-being. Therefore, we need to be prepare and find the best way to prevent a flu pandemic. In this article, we share a healthy habit for us to practice in our daily life that helps to prevent the flu.

Eat healthy food

Prevention is better than a cure. Thus, it is important to always stick to a balanced diet when taking our food. Those who eat more fruits, vegetables that rich in nutrients and antioxidants can help boost the immune system. Whereas eating too many fats, sugars and fast foods will compromise our immune system.

Practice Good Hygiene

Viruses could stay alive on-air or on an exposed surface for a few hours. We never know it exists because the size of viruses is less than 500 nanometer for us to see. Comparatively, it is ten thousand times smaller than the size of sand. Therefore, when we inhale air at crowded places or in contact with frequently touched surfaces we are at risk to get an infection. Thus, practice good hygiene may reduce risk. We highly recommend the following habits;

  • Always wash your hand with water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a mask when at crowded or public area
  • Don’t reuse the mask and dispose of it properly
  • Avoid touching your nose, mouth, and eyes without washing your hand first
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces

Things to do if meet person with symptoms

If you meet a person with flu symptoms, you are at risk of being infected. Taking preventive measures may lower the risk of transmission. The following preventive measure is recommended, especially during flu pandemic;

  • Keep a safe distance of at least 1 meter apart from each other
  • Avoid handshake, kissing, or any physical contact with them
  • If they are your family members, do not share foods, drinks, eating utensils, clothes, toothbrush or towel
